White Carbon:
Profile
White
carbon black is a highly-refined chemical product mainly
composed of SiO2 (approximately 80%-95%). It is white in
color; its name is due to the fact that its main
properties and uses are similar to those of carbon
black. Its chemical characteristics are stable, it has
good dispersion, and it is insoluble in water, heat
resistant, nonflammable, resistant to acids and alkalis,
non-polluting, porous, and a very good insulator. White
carbon black is chiefly used as a rubber filler and
reinforcing agent. It is used in the manufacture of
white, colored, and transparent rubber products. It can
significantly improve the tensile strength, tear
resistance, and abrasion resistance of rubber products.

White carbon black can produce light
colors and transparency in rubber products. And since it
is non-toxic and tasteless, white carbon black can be
widely used in plastics, paints, inks, paper,
pharmaceuticals, everyday chemical products, and foods.
It currently possesses nearly boundless development
potential. White carbon black can be synthesized from
silicon-rich non-metallic minerals such as kaolin,
wollastonite, serpentine, bentonite, and diatomaceous
earth. Industrial white carbon black consists of
amorphous silicon dioxide precipitated using chemical
methods. This simple-to-use additive material can ensure
easily controlled product quality. White carbon black is
inexpensive and highly effective. It is a high added
value product made by processing non-metallic minerals.
It can be produced by precipitation from a sulfuric acid
solution of silicates, or made using a vapor phase
method.
Chemical composition: SiO2•nH2O
Uses
1.
Precipitated white carbon black possesses high surface
activity, and can strengthen internal cohesiveness in
rubber. It can be used as a reinforcing agent, and
yields extraordinary strength and transparency in
natural and synthetic rubber. Vulcanized rubber products
containing white carbon black display superior tensile
strength, hardness, flexibility, resilience, tear
resistance, abrasion resistance, and aging resistance.
It can give products excellent transparency and
translucency. It is currently widely used in high-end
athletic shoes, sports shoes, shoe soles, tape, rice
milling rollers, and colored or light-colored bicycle
tires, auto tires, and industrial tires. The most
important use of white carbon black is as a rubber
reinforcing agent; 80%-90% is used for this purpose. It
can enhance abrasion resistance, tear resistance, and
hardness when used in the manufacture of transparent or
opaque, light-colored rubber products.
2. Can increase tensile
strength and reduce abrasion when used in plastic
products. Adding white carbon black to PVC can improve
insulation performance. Use in PE can improve tensile
strength and abrasion resistance. Can improve physical
properties when used in phenolic fabric and phenolic
glass steel.
3. Improves insulation when
used in the manufacture of high-voltage cable.
4. White carbon black can
control and increase the viscosity of liquids. The
addition of white carbon black to paints and inks can
increase viscosity and thixotropy, and prevent settling.
It can brighten colors and increase transparency.
5. Can improve the tear
resistance and wrinkle resistance of paper. Enhances
brightness, increases ink adsorption, and reduces
transparency or achieves a bright transparent effect.
Large amounts are used in the production of high-end
lightweight paper.
6. Used in pharmaceuticals
and pesticides as a carrier for active components and a
stabilizer for floating impurities.
7. Prevents shrinkage and
increases adhesion when mixed with epoxy resin before
pouring..
8. Used in rollers and tape
in textile and grain processing equipment. Dramatically
increases tensile strength, and can improve product
hardness and abrasion resistance,
9. Used to produce
extinguishing agent. Achieves extremely good insulation;
provides an oxygen barrier and quickly puts out fires.
This product can also be used as a raw material in
vehicle and metal polishing agents, film opening agents,
latex
separants, explosive carriers,
lightweight material products, and cosmetics, and as a
raw material and additive in animal feed.
